Herman Haywood Gray Jr.

Herman Haywood Gray Jr., 54, of Suffolk, born Aug. 15, 1963, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Virginia Beach General Hospital. He was born to the late Clarine Collins Gray and Leon Dildy Sr. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Valerie Gray, and brother, Maurice Gray.
Herman was a graduate of Forest Glen High School. He retired from Smithfield Packing Company after 21 years of faithful and dedicated service. For the past 10 years, he has been employed with Huntington Ingalls Newport News Shipbuilding.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Myrtle L. Gray, of Suffolk; daughter, Symone Taylor, of Portsmouth; four sons, Shawn Hatton, of Woodbridge, Adrian Hatton, of Chesapeake, Gerard Hatton and Quenfin Hatton, both of Suffolk; goddaughter, Javona Cutler, of Wakefield; three sisters, Tereon Johns, of Greensboro, N.C., Yvonne Gray and Libby Gray, both of Suffolk; brother, Leon Dildy Jr. (Angela), of Suffolk; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, In-laws, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at noon, Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 8300 Crittenden Road. He will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at 710 Bond Lane, Suffolk. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
