Police investigating two armed robberies

The Suffolk Police Department is currently investigating two commercial armed robberies that occurred early Tuesday morning.

Emergency Communications was made aware of an armed robbery at the McDonald’s in the 1500 block of Holland Road at 12:50 a.m. Suffolk Police conducted a preliminary investigation revealing that two subjects took an undetermined amount of currency after displaying handguns, according to a press release.

Less than 20 minutes later, Emergency Communications received a call regarding another armed robbery at the 7-Eleven in the 800 block of Carolina Road. Police conducted a preliminary investigation and found that four subjects displayed firearms and took an undetermined amount of currency, according to a press release.

There were no injuries in either incident.

Suffolk Police do not believe that the two incidents are related due to timeframes and the distance between the two locations, according to a press release.

The investigations are ongoing, and the police don’t have any other information at the time.
