Warrior Bryson Dansberry feels good about his showing in a recent Prep Baseball Report top prospects event.
The event was invite-only, and Dansberry was invited to compete along with other baseball players throughout Hampton Roads. The event was held at Old Dominion University and consisted of one game and a pro-style workout/combine.
“It was a great event put on by Prep Baseball Report,” he said. “I feel great on how I played all summer season, and I also think my name is on a lot of college coaches’ radars now.”
Dansberry has had a strong summer competing for Old Dominion Hitters while also competing in various events this summer. A few weeks ago, he participated in the Virginia Commonwealth Games representing Suffolk, which was his first real exposure to working out and playing in front of college coaches.
“It was something new to me, but the more I was exposed to the scouts, the more comfortable I got,” he said. “It was a good weekend and a good environment to be a part of, and it was good competition playing the best in the state.”
Back in the spring, Dansberry had a strong sophomore season for Nansemond River High School, which led to him making the All-District team. With his strong summer, he will look to carry his momentum into the fall, when he has plans to compete in about six tournaments, including one in Florida by Perfect Game.
A goal of his has always been to play at the college level and, with his work ethic, that looks possible for him in the future.
“My love for the game and my passion is what drives me and just the game itself,” he said. “I have a desire to play at the next level.”
