Firefighters respond to warehouse fire

Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded on Wednesday to the Pacorini Global Warehouse in the 100 block of Industrial Drive due a commercial fire.

The fire alarm was triggered when the sprinklers went off at 2:13 p.m., and firefighters found moderate smoke showing from a rear door of the facility and immediately started to search the interior of the building, according to a city press release.

The fire was contained to two large lumber packing crates, both of which were removed from the facility. The flames were extinguished and the firefighters conducted a secondary search of the building.

There were no injuries, and the building did not have to be evacuated, according to the press release.

The fire was under control at 2:43 p.m.

The Norfolk Fire Department provided mutual aid with a fan truck to assist Suffolk Fire & Rescue in ventilating the building.

The Fire Marshal’s Office will be handling the investigation.
