Joe Louis White, 79, of Butler Drive, transitioned Sunday, Aug. 12, 2018, at Sentara Obici Hospital. He was the son of the late Celia and William White.

He worked for the City of Suffolk Public Schools for more than 30 years before retiring in 2004.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Eva Odell White, of Suffolk; goddaughter, Rita Beamon (Ronald); devoted nephew, Ledell White; a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2018, at Palm Tree Baptist Church, 8165 Whaleyville Blvd. The Rev. Anthony Sommerville will deliver the message of comfort. He will be laid to rest in Howell Family Cemetery. Professional services with have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
