A fire that destroyed a North Suffolk home early Monday morning has been ruled the result of a lightning strike.
Fire Marshal Lt. Charles Chapin made the announcement Tuesday, according to a city press release.
The home in the 4600 block of Schooner Boulevard, in the Schooner Cove neighborhood off Sleepy Hole Road, was declared a total loss.
The fire was reported at 5:06 a.m., and the first units arrived on scene at 5:13 a.m. Firefighters found the home almost fully involved and began defensive operations.
Two adults were displaced from the home and were receiving assistance from family. They were not at home when the fire started.
