Six displaced in Sunday morning fire

Six people, including an infant, were displaced from their apartments in a fire early Sunday morning.

The fire was reported at 2:26 a.m. at The Lofts at One Eleven apartment building. The first units arrived on the scene at 2:32 a.m.

Suffolk Police arrived first and were evacuating occupants from the apartment building. Fire crews entered and found a small fire in the kitchen area of one of the apartments. The fire was out upon arrival due to the sprinkler system activating, and it was contained to the kitchen area in that apartment.

The fire was marked under control at 3:52 a.m. The six people were displaced from that apartment as well as the downstairs apartment due to water damage.

The American Red Cross will be providing assistance. There were no injuries.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
