The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy Saints didn’t allow the lightning delay from Friday to be a losing excuse, as they came out Monday and secured a 42-34 win over a good opponent.

With the win over Blue Ridge, the Saints went to 2-0, which is their best start under Coach Mike Biehl.

Zac Morris got things started for the Saints in the first half by scoring two touchdowns. At halftime, the Saints held a 15-14 lead over Blue Ridge. In the second half, the Saints were able to maintain their lead while also adding to it. George Pettaway put scores on the board to help the Saints increase their lead. Blue Ridge didn’t go away, as they tried to cut the lead down multiple times and, though they were close, NSA remained poised.

The Saints will have to quickly turn their focus to Christchurch School this weekend. NSA has a chance to roll to 3-0 as they will try to carry over momentum from their Blue Ridge win.

Biehl said last weekend that he and his coaching staff were confident that the Saints will be able to go for both games this week.
