Brooks Gillerlain became the fourth player in Randolph College history to reach 2,000 career assists.

A senior standout on the Randolph women’s volleyball team, Gillerlain has had a good career up to this point. The former Lady Saint is in the midst of her final college season and has already added her name to the record books.

At the beginning of the month, Gillerlain reached 2,000 assists and was the fourth player to do so. It came as a surprise even to Gillerlain herself, as she didn’t know she was that close to reaching that milestone at that time.

“Honestly, it was a complete surprise,” she said. “I don’t really focus too much on stats, so I didn’t know I was that close.”

Even though she’s only about a month in, Gillerlain has been enjoying her senior season so far.

“It’s been really good so far,” she said. “We have improved every year that I have been here, but this year’s start has been the best yet. I am excited to see what’s in store for us.”

Gillerlain has been a captain on the volleyball team since she was a sophomore. Randolph started flowing well at the end of its season last year, and now the senior hopes that continues throughout this 2018 season.

At Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, Gillerlain helped NSA win back-to-back state titles. In 2014, she was selected the Suffolk News-Herald Fall Female Player of the Year. She was also selected to multiple All-Conference and All-State teams.
