A vehicle lost control and overturned during a police pursuit on Wednesday, according to a city spokeswoman.

City spokeswoman Diana Klink said Wednesday afternoon that a Suffolk Police Officer saw a blue Crown Victoria “operating recklessly at a high rate of speed” about 3:43 p.m. and initiated a vehicle pursuit.

The driver lost control and the vehicle overturned while attempting to turn onto Shoulders Hill Road, Klink stated.

The adult male driver received assessment and treatment by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel before being taken into police custody and transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries not considered life-threatening, Klink stated.

The investigation remains ongoing, and Klink stated no further information was available for release.
