Suffolk Transit will release a public survey on Oct. 1 related to its Transit Development Plan to make future public transportation improvements in Suffolk.

The Transit Development Plan is considered a “road map” for future improvements. The last time the plan was updated was January 2014, according to a press release from the city.

Surveys are available to the public on Suffolk Transit buses, at Suffolk Public Libraries and online.

The survey is available from Oct. 1-19.

The updated plan provides the opportunity to document the changes in transit services, adjust transit goals and objectives, assess current transit services, identify unmet transit needs, and determine the appropriate course of action within the six-year planning horizon.

Suffolk Transit is not currently proposing changes to its services, but the survey will allow the public to voice which improvements they believe would help.

The plan serves as a management and policy document for the city and as the basis of capital and operating grant requests in the state’s Six Year Improvement Program, Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, Transportation Improvement Program and Constrained Long-Range Plan.
