More dining and banking options are slated to open across the city of Suffolk next year.
A new Bojangles restaurant is being built at 2912 Godwin Blvd. near the Wawa convenience store, according to an email from Bojangles’ Restaurants Inc. PW Foods LLC, a licensed Bojangles’ franchisee, will own and operate the location.
It will be the franchise group’s fourth Bojangles’ restaurant with others in Emporia, Franklin and Farmville. The new 3,800-square-foot location is expected to be open in early 2019.
“For quite some time, our team has been interested in bringing Bojangles’ to Suffolk, so we’re excited that construction is now under way,” Jim Whitehead, franchisee of PW Foods LLC, stated in an email. “We look forward to enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinner with the local community for years to come.”
In North Suffolk, Bayport Credit Union has leased 2,391 square feet of retail space in the outparcel shops at Hampton Roads Crossing, located at 1013 University Blvd. According to an email from Vice President of Marketing Nancy Porter, the new, full-service Bayport branch is planned for a summer 2019 opening.
Downtown, Venture Realty Group is developing a 6,400-square-foot building for the Shops at Obici at 1900 N. Main St, next to Aldi.
General Brokerage Partner Fiona Sadler stated in an email that Jersey Mike’s Subs and Chartway Federal Credit Union have both signed leases for space in the building, and negotiations are underway to finalize an agreement with an as-yet-undisclosed third tenant. After those negotiations are finalized, 3,200 square feet of leasable space will remain.
As of Thursday, the building is under construction with an anticipated completion in the first quarter of 2019.
