Odessa Carroll

Odessa Carroll, 81, of the 1900 block of Myrick Avenue, Suffolk, transitioned into eternal slumber on Oct. 3, 2018.
She was the daughter of the late Pearline Barrett and Elder Jonas Barrett Sr. She was a native of Gates County, N.C., and as a child relocated with her parents and four siblings to Suffolk, where she built her life and family, and later retired as a worker from the Planters Peanut Company.
She leaves three generations, four daughters, Rosa Joyner, Pearline Carroll, Barbara Young (George), Alma Robison (Olimas Jr.); nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A homegoing service celebrating her life and legacy will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, at Greater Sweet Beulah Pentecostal Church, where she was a lifetime member, deaconess and church mother. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Professional services have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
