NR places seventh at volleyball tournament

Nansemond River High School’s girls’ volleyball placed seventh in the Endless Summer volleyball tournament.

The Lady Warriors traveled over to Virginia Beach last weekend to compete in a volleyball tournament. The tournament featured mostly teams from the Hampton Roads among other places. Nansemond River played in five games, going 3-2.

The Lady Warriors got wins over King’s Fork High School and West Point High School. Their final win came in the seventh-place game against Nandua High School. Overall, it was a solid outing for Nansemond River. The team now has six wins on the season.

The win over King’s Fork gave the Lady Warriors their second win over their rival this season. The two will meet again this week. King’s Fork did earn one set against the Lady Warriors. In the win over West Point, Nansemond River took two straight sets. In their seventh-place game, they won 2-1.

This week will be a rivalry-filled week in terms of matchups for NR. They will go on the road Tuesday night to face Lakeland and will face King’s Fork once again Thursday night. With a 2-0 week, the Lady Warriors will have swept each of their rivals.
