Coach Angie Gatling was satisfied with the Bulldogs’ ability to be able to win close games in a rivalry. Nansemond River played tough in every set.

“The boys were hungry for this game,” she said. “Both teams played extremely hard. Both teams wore each other out. It just came down to the boys showing their heart. We knew from the first time we played them it wasn’t going to be easy. There were some rough patches, but I am proud of these guys.”

King’s Fork will face Oscar Smith High School at home Monday. Nansemond River will face Hickory High School Tuesday at home.
