The Lady Cavs field hockey team is hoping for a strong playoff run.
Lakeland finished up the regular season with a 9-5 record, finishing their last couple regular-season games with big wins. With a whole week of preparation, Coach Jamee Albright is not only happy with how her players have been playing recently but also believes it will continue into the playoffs.
“I feel confident in what they have been doing and how they have been playing,” Albright said. “They have been playing with confidence, heart and tenacity.”
The players have also felt like they have been playing their best and have also been excited about the opportunity to make some noise in the postseason.
“We are so pumped for this upcoming game,” senior Allison Thompson said. “We have been playing our best as a team, and we are excited about the playoffs.”
Over the course of the week, Lakeland has been working hard and doing team bonding activities. Albright believes it all comes down to the team’s mindset. She knows Lakeland has the skill as a team to do some incredible things, but they also need the drive to win.
“We can’t give up for one second during these games,” Albright said.
Lakeland will go into the Class 3 Region A playoffs with the No. 4 seed and will have a home game against Colonial Heights High School. The game will be at 4 p.m. Monday.
