The Lakeland High School field hockey team had three players make the Class 3A All-Region teams.
Lakeland had a successful postseason run. In the region, they advanced all the way to the semifinals game, which earned them a berth in the state tournament. In their first-round matchup, they shut out a Colonial Heights High School team at home. Because of the solid postseason success, the Lady Cavs were represented on the All-Region teams.
Ashton Moore and Sydney Beale were selected to the first team, while Makayla Snyder was voted to the second team. Beale was also selected first team All-District as well.
“I am grateful that all of my work put into this season was recognized,” Beale said. “I am very proud.”
A common theme among the players that made the All-Region teams was they were grateful for the teammates they had this season. Everyone was more than happy with the season Lakeland was able to have this year.
“I really tried to improve, because I knew it was going to be my last year as a Lady Cav,” Moore said.
Snyder led the team in goals this season with nine. At first, she mentioned being shocked about making the All-Region teams because of so many talented seniors on the team this season.
“It was almost like a reassurance this season that all of our hard work paid off,” Snyder said. “I was a little shocked, because we have so many talented players on the team, but I am proud of myself and my other teammates.”
Snyder will return next season, but Moore and Beale will be graduating. Of the Suffolk Public Schools, Lakeland was the only team to reach the state level.
