Master Sgt. Thurman Jones, 89, of Chesapeake, transitioned from this life on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at his residence to be with the Lord.

Thurman was born on Sept. 12, 1929, in Sunbury, N.C. He was a respected veteran that served in the U.S. Army for 24 years. His legacy will forever live on through his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Onita, and his four children. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Metropolitan Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Robert Hobbs will officiate. He will be laid to rest in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
