UPS Store No. 5885, located at 1024 Centerbrooke Lane, has donated more than $6,000 in books to Suffolk Early Childhood Development Commission.

The mission of Suffolk’s ECDC is to provide resources, services and programs for caregivers and children, birth through age 8, to support a child’s social, physical, emotional and cognitive growth. These books will be distributed to Suffolk’s youngest population.

Each UPS Store raises funds year-round to benefit the Toys for Tots Literacy Program, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support local children and literacy programs. Every dollar donated helps put a book in the hands of a child in need, and the generosity of the community has certainly made a difference in this effort.

“Reading is a critical skill that helps children to succeed in school and beyond,” said Suffolk UPS Store franchise owner Amy Eichelberger. “The UPS Store is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of these children through literacy and education during the holiday season and throughout the year.”
