Robbery investigated

Suffolk Police are investigating an armed robbery of a gas station that happened early Friday morning.

The robbery was reported at 4:28 a.m. at the Circle K in the 800 block of West Washington Street, according to a city press release. Witnesses told police that a black male suspect, wearing a gray USMC sweatshirt with a white hood covering his head, black and white shoes and dark-colored jeans, displayed a handgun and took an undetermined amount of currency before fleeing the business on foot. There were no injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and no further information is available for release.
