Warriors fall in close one to Bruins

Nansemond River High School boys’ basketball team took its first loss of the season last Friday against Western Branch High School.
The Warriors are 2-1 on the season after the battle with Western Branch. The game between the two teams had been viewed as a high-intensity rivalry during the basketball season, and the game did not disappoint.
Both teams had strong first halves, with both teams being tied at 28. The game continued to be a battle in the second half with the Bruins escaping with a 69-57 win. Jeremiah Lewis led the Warriors with 21 points on the night. He was the only Warrior to score in double figures.
Nansemond River will have another test Tuesday night when they take on Oscar Smith High School on the road at 7 p.m.
