Ashton Moore and Sydney Beale were selected All-State for field hockey after a solid season by the Lady Cavaliers.

Lakeland High School field hockey made a run in the playoffs and advanced to the Class 3 region A semifinals, which saw them earn a trip to the state tournament. They fell in the quarterfinals of the state tournament to the reigning state champion, but it didn’t take away from two Lady Cavs receiving All-State recognition.

Ashton Moore and Sydney Beale were both selected to the Class 3A second team All-State. Both are seniors and were grateful to be chosen All-State to finish their high school field hockey careers. They are two of three total players from Suffolk that received All-State recognition.

“I was thrilled to hear that me and Sydney had been voted,” Moore said. “We both worked very hard this season, and I thank my teammates and coaches for such a great season.”

“I was proud, excited and felt like my hard work had paid off,” Beale said. “It’s something to be proud of, especially with it happening my senior year, and I think it’s something that anyone would be proud of.”

Beale had been a part of the Lakeland field hockey team since she was a freshman. She credited her teammates and coaches for her development throughout the years. Beale doesn’t have plans to play in college, but she happy with the things she was able to accomplish with the Lady Cavs. During her senior season, Beale made first team All-District and All-Region and then second team All-State.

“I was blessed to be able to varsity as a freshman,” Beale said. “I was able to grow a stronger relationship with Coach P and then this year with Coach Jamee. I felt like this year was the best way for it to end.”

Moore was also grateful for her career at Lakeland and what she was able to accomplish. This season alone she was a first team All-Region and second team All-State selection.

“I am very proud of the years I’ve played at Lakeland,” Moore said. “It had its ups and downs, but it was all worth it. Senior year was one of the best years, and our team worked hard, and I’m proud of all of us. I’m thankful to have had a great senior year.”
