The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ basketball team won its fourth game in a row with a home win Friday night.

The 43-36 win over St. Catherine’s School put NSA at 7-4 on the season. It is the fourth straight win for a Lady Saints team that was recently coming off of a holiday tournament championship.

Things started off a little shaky for both teams, as NSA only had an 8-4 lead after one quarter of play. In the second quarter, both teams traded buckets with St. Catherine’s getting the slight edge, scoring 12 points in the second quarter to NSA’s 10. NSA went into halftime with an 18-16 lead and edged the next two quarters to pull out a 43-36 win.

NSA shot 32 percent as a team to St. Catherine’s 26 percent, and the Lady Saints were still able to win despite losing the turnover battle 15-3.

The Lady Saints will get Walsingham Academy on the road on Tuesday.
