Thierry P. Grom

Thierry proudly served his nation for 21 years in the U.S. Army. He was stationed throughout the world in various assignments, most notably serving as an infantry squad leader, platoon sergeant, and weapons and tactics instructor. Upon retirement from the Army, he continued to serve the Department of Defense by working as a defense contractor supporting the United States Joint Forces Command Joint Warfighting Center and the Joint Staff J7 as a training modeling and simulations subject matter expert.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Jeannine Grom, and nephew, Dennis O’Keeffe III. Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Amy Grom; children, Pascal Grom, of Independence, Mo., Asia Daly, of Ruskin, Fla., and Sarah Grom, of Suffolk; brother, Tony Grom, of Stanfordville, N.Y.; sister, Brigitte Ricci, of Phoenix, Ariz.; father, LeRoy Grom, of Chuckey, Tenn., as well as four grandchildren.

A celebration of Thierry’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at The Church of St. Therese, 4137 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association. The arrangements are being assisted by R.W. Baker & Co. A private family graveside service will be held on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019. at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.
