Any snow this weekend likely minimal

Those holding out hope for a significant snowfall this weekend are likely to be disappointed in Suffolk, but there’s still a chance for the outlook to change.

“Right now it looks like the best chance at significant impacts is going to be over the Piedmont,” said Eswar Iyer, a meteorologist with National Weather Service Wakefield. “At this point in time, we’re still a few days out, and things can change, but you probably won’t have any significant impacts from this.”

Iyer said a little bit of snow in Hampton Roads from Saturday night into Sunday can’t be ruled out, but the impacts are likely to be minimal.

“If you do have snow, it will be less than what maybe the Richmond metro or further northwest is going to see,” Iyer said.

Even without snow, Saturday and Sunday will be chilly, and there’s sure to be plenty of precipitation. A high of 40 is predicted both days, with a 100-percent chance of precipitation on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service Wakefield website.

Iyer urged folks to keep their eyes on the forecast.

“A small shift in exact track could mean a big shift of snowfall totals,” he said.
