Cavs win matchup with Matoaca

The Lakeland High School boys’ basketball team grabbed a 65-57 win over Matoaca High School at the King’s Fork High School showcase last Saturday.

The Cavs picked up their 13th win of the season when they took on Matoaca. Lakeland continues to show its improvement each game. The win gave the team its third win in a row. The day before, Lakeland picked up a win against Deep Creek High School.

Quentin Livingston has been having big games as of late for Lakeland. He recorded a 17-point, 13-rebound performance, which was his second double-double in back-to-back days. Last Friday, he put up 18 points and 12 rebounds. After three quarters against Matoaca, Lakeland led 47-37, with Lakeland having three players in double figures. Keimari Artis finished with 15 points, and Clint Wright Jr. finished with 13 points.

Lakeland will get ready for a showdown with Western Branch High School Friday night on the road. Last year, the Cavs took Western Branch down to the wire as a young team. Now with a year of experience under their belt, they are in prime position to go toe-to-toe with the Bruins.
