Bulldogs drop season series to Bruins

The Bulldogs dropped its first district series of the season against Western Branch. King’s Fork hosted the Bruins on Tuesday but took a 68-55 loss.

The loss puts King’s Fork at 14-4 on the year. The Bruins started off with a 12-0 lead in the first quarter before the Bulldogs rallied back and went into the second quarter down one, 16-15.

King’s Fork went on an 8-0 run in the second quarter to push their lead and held a 34-33 lead at halftime. A slow third quarter for the Bulldogs put them behind, as Western Branch took a lead as high as 11. The Bulldogs cut the deficit down to about six with about five minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Western Branch was able to hold on.

Keontae Boyette led with 19 points for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs will go on the road Friday night for a showdown with Oscar Smith High School at 7 p.m. King’s Fork is the only team to defeat Oscar Smith this season.
