Nellie Mae Spratley, 91, of Mount Lebanon Avenue, Suffolk, transitioned Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, at her residence. She is the daughter of the late Lillian Virginia Wright and Elijah Wright II. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred L. Spratley Sr.; daughter, Jeanette Boone, and brother, Elijah Wright III.

She was a domestic engineer for 62 years and was a member of Mount Lebanon Church, where she served as the church treasurer and secretary. She was a member of the Senior Choir and Usher Board.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Beverly Davis and Felicia Spratley, of Suffolk; four sons, Robert Wright Sr. (Athea Wright), of Gates County, N.C.; Douglas Spratley Sr. (Ida), Malcolm Spratley, and Fred L. Spratley Jr., all of Suffolk; son-in-law, Johnny Boone Sr.; two goddaughters, Bridgette Hatton and Kathleen Eley; 25 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at Mount Lebanon C.O.G.I.C., 1732 Mt. Lebanon Ave., Suffolk, VA 23436. She will be laid to rest in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
