Rufus Lee Jones, 86, passed away on Feb. 12, 2019, in his residence.

He was born in Georgetown, Ga. He was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, Suffolk.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years, Johnnie Mae Jones; a daughter, Norma J. Shipp and son-in-law, Andre, of Suffolk; two sisters, Annie Will Wade and Laura Kegler; two brothers, Artis Jones and Melvin Jones; two grandchildren, Arielle Shipp and Andrew Shipp; great-grandson, Liam Shipp-Dickerson; a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Canaan Baptist Church, 2064 Nansemond Parkway, Suffolk. The interment will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens, Suffolk.
