Mrs. Alice Virginia Harris, of Suffolk, departed this earthly life on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019. Alice will be lovingly missed by her devoted daughter, Vanessa L. Harris, and her loving son, Adam F. Gainous, along with other loving family and friends.

Alice worked for 36-plus years at Planters Peanuts and a 38-year member of the Local Union 26 until she retired. She was the beautiful voice that you would hear as the receptionist at Harris Funeral Home for her daughter until her health began to decline. She was a faithful member of the East End Baptist Church for 54 years and was a member of the Golden Girls of EEBC, Sisters Who Care, Prayer Ministry, Church Historian, Senior Adult Choir and Senior Ministry.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019, at East End Baptist Church, Suffolk. Burial will be in the Carver Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019, at Harris Funeral Home, 685 Carolina Road, Suffolk. A wake will be held at the funeral home from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. Harris Funeral Home has been entrusted with the home going service.
