Former Lady Bulldog standout Camary Harris was selected to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Rookie team.
It has been a strong freshman season for the Suffolk native at Bethune-Cookman University. She was able to step in and contribute for the team immediately. Harris received the MEAC All-Rookie team honors after averaging 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game in 16 conference games.
During the regular season, she was selected MEAC Rookie of the Week twice. Harris has averaged around 19 minutes a game for BCU and has started 10 of 27 games. After her first rookie honors in December, Harris felt she was starting to get in the flow of things transitioning from the style she played at King’s Fork High School to BCU.
“I’ve been playing really well, and I’ve been playing good minutes,” she said. “I’ve started to get in the flow and go from my style of play with (King’s Fork) Coach (Maurice) Fofana to now (Bethune-Cookman) Coach (Vanessa) Blair’s style of play.”
At King’s Fork, Harris was an All-District, All-Region and All-State selection. She helped King’s Fork to big-time seasons, including a state championship appearance in 2017.
During her senior season at King’s Fork last year, she helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to the state semifinals. Harris had a nice selection of NCAA Division I schools to choose from before deciding on Bethune-Cookman.
