King’s Fork High School senior Nylah Young headlined the Virginia High School League Class 4A All-State team.
For the second year in a row, Young was selected to the first team of the VHSL Class 4A All-State teams. Also for the second straight year, Young was selected first team All-District, All-Region and All-State.
After a strong junior season, Young took her game up one more notch, averaging more than 27 points and 10 rebounds per game.
“I am extremely humbled to say I am a back-to-back first team All-State performer,” Young said. “My teammates and my coaches have helped me, and I wouldn’t be where I was without them.”
Young had an extraordinary senior campaign. She was the back-to-back Southeastern District Player of the Year, and she was able to help King’s Fork reach the region semifinals. A heart-breaking loss to Deep Creek High School was how the season ended, and it bothered Young, being the competitor she is. However, she’s excited about her next chapter.
“I think about our last game every day,” she said. “I hate the way it ended, but I’m grateful for my four years here. I’m looking forward to my future at Hampton.”
Young has committed to play college basketball at Hampton University.
