Man injured in crash

A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash early Tuesday morning.
Suffolk Police and Suffolk Fire & Rescue responded to the scene of a single-vehicle accident in the 2900 block of Carolina Road. The crash was reported at 12:35 a.m., according to a city press release.
Preliminary investigation found that the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, the press release stated. The man driving had to be extricated by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel. He was transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
The road was closed at that location for about 27 minutes.
The cause remains under investigation.
