Lakeland Ruriteens to host Relay fundraiser

Update: The Lakeland Ruri-Teen Ruritan Club fundraiser that was scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled. There are no plans to reschedule it at this time.

The Lakeland Ruri-Teen Ruritan Club will host a day of fun Saturday, with all proceeds going toward Relay for Life, the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The event, which will take place at the Bethlehem Ruritan Club at 140 Manning Road, will include a cornhole tournament, an Easter egg hunt for children, the game “Are You Smarter Than a Ruriteen?” and a board game tournament.

Events will begin at 10 a.m. with the cornhole tournament. Registration for the tournament will take place Saturday morning from 9 to 9:30 a.m. The cost to play is $25, with the top three two-player teams receiving a cash prize.

The children’s Easter egg hunt will start at 11 a.m., and there will also be face painting. Concessions will be sold throughout the day.

The Lakeland Ruriteens will host the “Are You Smarter Than a Ruriteen” event at 2 p.m. and are looking for seven competitors to sign up on a first-come, first-serve basis. It costs $5 to play and $2 to watch. Those wanting to take part should contact Sarah Bazemore at sarahbazemore@yahoo.com.

The board game tournament will take place from 3 to 7 p.m., with more than 20 board games available to play for a $2 donation.

There will also be a silent auction, and people are asked to bring a donation.
