The King’s Fork High School girls’ soccer team got a district win over Indian River High School Wednesday evening.

The Lady Bulldogs went to 4-2-2 on the season after the 5-1 win, which will give them some momentum as they head into spring break. Five Lady Bulldogs were able to get on the board in an all-around team effort.

Lonni Cox scored one of the Lady Bulldogs’ five goals, giving her 13 goals on the season so far. That total puts her among the top in leading scorers in South Hampton Roads. As a sophomore last season, Cox was among the leading scorers in the area and may have gotten off to an even better start this year.

“I’ve been trying to step my game up,” Cox said. “It’s definitely a strong start, but I couldn’t have done it without my teammates. Our start has helped elevate our play, so all around this has been good for us.”

King’s Fork will take on Hickory High School when they get back from spring break.
