Hall Franklin Birdsong Jr.

Hall Franklin Birdsong Jr., 84, died April 12, 2019, at Transitions LifeCare Center in Raleigh, N.C., surrounded by his loving daughters. A native of Suffolk, he was the son of the late Elizabeth West Birdsong and Hall Franklin Birdsong. Mr. Birdsong is a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a lifelong member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Suffolk, where he served as chairman of the board. He served as chairman of the Suffolk Planning Commission, exalted ruler of the Suffolk Elks Lodge and was a former member of the Suffolk Rotary Club.
He is predeceased by his wife, Barbara Wygal Birdsong, his sister, Betty Joyner, and her husband, Dick Joyner. He is survived by his daughters, Sharyn Flintoff and husband Bob, of Suffolk, Jennifer Birdsong, of Apex, N.C., Libby Bulkin and husband, Ken, of Apex, N.C., and Martha Trapani and husband, Ed, of Norfolk; grandchildren Bobby, Thomas and Kate Flintoff, Betsy, Aidan and Jackson Bulkin, and Annie Trapani; nieces, Nancy Stewart, Elizabeth Taylor and husband Jeff, and nephew Rick Joyner and wife Beth.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at a date yet to be determined.
