The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy baseball team picked up a huge win against Greenbrier Christian Academy Tuesday evening.
NSA went on the road and picked up a 5-2 win against a very good GCA team that was ranked No. 1 in the most recent Virginia Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state poll. It was a key win for NSA, which stood in the No. 5 spot in the same poll.
The Saints got things started in the first inning, when they went up 2-0 off of an error by GCA. After holding a 2-1 lead up until the fifth inning, NSA scored three runs over the last three innings to seal the deal. Nic Psimas handled pitching duties for the Saints and earned the win. He struck out five. Zac Morris went 2-2 with a run and two RBIs. Morris also added a double. Overall, the Saints put a solid game together of some solid pitching and clutch hitting from seniors.
With the win, NSA goes to 10-4-1 on the year. They will travel to play Cape Henry Collegiate on the road Thursday evening at 4:30 p.m.
