Late scores help Tigers past Cavs

The Lakeland High School baseball team fell 3-1 to Oscar Smith High School Thursday evening.
The game was within reach for a late surge, but the Tigers held off the Cavs. Lakeland took the lead 1-0 after the first inning before Oscar Smith tied the game up in the second. Even though they were close, the Cavs were unable to score the rest of the game in the loss.
Noah Boone had a strong day at the plate despite the loss, striking out eight and allowing three hits. Carlin Walden went 2-3 with an RBI. He also added a double.
Lakeland will face Great Bridge High School at home at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
