Register now for Suffolk Teen Summit
Registration is now open for the 2019 Teen Summit, presented by the Suffolk Department of Parks and Recreation and the Office on Youth. This event is open to youth aged 11 to 17, as well as adults ages 18 and older that are interested in empowering youth.
According to a city press release, the theme for this year’s Teen Summit is “Empowered to Overcome.” The focus will be on empowering youth to make them stronger and more confident, especially in controlling their life and claiming their rights.
The Teen Summit will begin Aug. 24 with seminars at 9 a.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn – Suffolk Riverfront, 100 E. Constance Road. The seminars will be followed by an after party at Constant’s Wharf Park behind the hotel.
“Teen Summit serves as an expansion of prevention programs and activities developed for the Suffolk Initiative on Youth Crime Prevention Plan,” according to the press release. “This dynamic conference will engage youth and adults in interactive sessions on topics such as acceptance, mindfulness, bullying, and adult-interference.”
This event is free and open to the public, and those that register early will receive a free event t-shirt. Visit www.suffolkva.us/parks for online registration or call 514-7250.
