A contractor will perform a sanitary sewer lateral replacement at 112 N. Main St. Friday through Sunday. This work is being done on behalf of the Suffolk Department of Public Utilities, according to a city press release.
The lateral replacement work will begin Friday night at 8 p.m. and extend through the weekend to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Both northbound lanes on North Main Street will be closed to through traffic between East Washington and Bank streets.
Northbound traffic will be detoured around the work zone to East Washington Street, to North Commerce Street and to Bank Street. Eastbound traffic on West Washington Street trying to turn north on Main Street will be detoured around the work zone through North Saratoga Street and Market Street.
The left southbound turn lane on North Main Street will be closed. The two remaining southbound lanes, however, will remain open between West Washington Street and Bank Street.
Detour signage will be in place, according to the press release. The sidewalk in front of the Main Street Center Building at 112 N. Main St. will be closed to pedestrians and emergency vehicles; residents and businesses will be accommodated as needed during this work.
