LHS teams set for region playoffs
Lakeland High School will have three teams competing in the region tournament Wednesday.
The tournament is getting under way for various spring sports, and Lakeland will have three teams competing on Wednesday alone. The softball, baseball and girls’ soccer teams will all see action in hopes of making a run.
Both the baseball and girls’ soccer teams will face off against Park View High School. The softball team will compete against Tabb High School. All three teams have played against other region mates here and there throughout the season, but the bulk of their games have come against opponents in the Southeastern District — a district where Lakeland is the smallest school.
Each team is excited to get back in action against regional opponents close to Lakeland’s size. Last season, the girls’ soccer team defeated Park View to get to the region semifinals. They also defeated Park View earlier this season.
The Lakeland softball team will be at Tabb at 4 p.m. Wednesday, with the baseball team also being on the road against Park View at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The girls’ soccer team will have the home game, as they host Park View at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
