The Lakeland High School girls’ soccer team fell 5-0 to Colonial Heights High School last Friday in the region semifinals.
For the second year in a row, the Lady Cavs fell to Colonial Heights in the region tournament. With a trip to the state tournament on the line, the Lady Cavs fell to the top seed. Lakeland fought hard in the first half of the game but eventually ran out of gas.
Overall Lakeland finished with a 7-10 record. Throughout the season, they played teams within their region and were able to finish strong. Lakeland believes they are close to reaching that region championship game next season, which guarantees them a state tournament appearance.
Coach Adam Smith is excited about the underclassmen that will be moving up and those he will have returning next season.
