Helen H. Bagley

Mother Helen H. Bagley, 82, of 1006 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, transitioned, Monday, July 8, 2019, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was a native of Whaleyville, Suffolk, and the daughter of the late Helen Parker Wilson and Frank Wilson. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Bagley Rodgers.

She worked at Robertson Elementary School cafe and retired from Nansemond Pointe after 30 years of faithful and dedicated service. She was a faithful member of New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries, where she was a church mother and president of the Mothers’ Board, and the late Bishop W.P. Wiggins Gospel Choir.

She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Lewis J. Bagley (Laverne), of Suffolk, Tony X. Bagley (Denise), of Suffolk and Robert A. Bagley (Linda), of Hampton; 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Kim Rodgers; stepdaughter, Diane Artis; two uncles, Roger Simpson (Evelyn) and Benny Darden; brother-in-law, the Rev. Ray Bagley; four sisters-in-law, Ella Williams, Barbara Tappin, Embery Bagley and Betty Jean Bagley; sister/cousin, Lennie Louise Hinton; dear friend/cousin/brother, Melvin Hinton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A visitation with family will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 12, 2019, in the Melvin J. Blowe Chapel of Crocker Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at noon, Saturday, July 13, 2019, at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries. Bishop Viola Parker will deliver the message of comfort. She will be entombed in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Professional services with dignity have been entrusted to Crocker Funeral Home Inc.
