- The Suffolk Sheriff’s Office will be handing out coupons for free Slurpees to children in Suffolk this summer as part of “Operation Chill.” Pictured is Deputy Robert Barlow with Grace Barlow, Deputy Patrice Harrison with Jackson and Madison Bowie, Deputy Veronica Woodson with Shiloh Brinkley and Aiden Coleman, and Sheriff E.C. Harris.
Young people in Suffolk might get a free frozen treat this summer if deputies from the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office catch them doing something good.
Deputies will be giving out coupons for free Slurpees from 7-Eleven through “Operation Chill” if they spot the children doing good deeds, like cutting grass or picking up trash.
“We will be going through the neighborhoods looking for kids doing helpful things for others,” Sheriff E.C. Harris said. “When we see them doing a good deed, we will give them a coupon for the good deed and reinforce paying it forward.”
Harris said this program helps teach young people to have a good relationship with law enforcement.
“We’re fostering a good working relationship with our youth,” Harris said.
