Blood drive for Hannah this week

A blood drive will be held in Suffolk this week in honor of Hannah Goetz, an Isle of Wight teen who recently had a double lung transplant after her lungs were removed because of a bad infection from pneumonia.
The American Red Cross will hold the blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday on the second floor of the media center at King’s Fork Middle School, 350 Kings Fork Road.
“There’s no substitute for blood,” according to redcrossblood.org. “When a patient receives blood, it was given in advance by a generous donor.”
Blood donors help patients of all ages each and every day: victims of accidents and burns, heart surgery patients, those with organ transplants and those battling cancer.
“In fact, every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood,” according to redcrossblood.org.
Visit redcrossblood.org and enter “ForHannah” to schedule an appointment, or alternatively, use the American Red Cross Blood Donor phone application or call 1-800-RED-CROSS. Walk-ins will be accepted as well, although appointments will have priority.
Amazon is thanking donors with a $5 Amazon gift card. Visit rcblood.org/together for more information.
