The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy boys’ soccer team picked up a 6-2 win over Peninsula Catholic Tuesday.
NSA (2-0) has won its first two games by a combined score 12-2.
“The result of the first two games of the season (is) a reflection of the hard work the team put into preseason,” said NSA coach Patrick Whelan. “Our conditioning, fitness, and pace were among the biggest positive factors contributing to our overall team performance. I’m so pleased with the result, but I’m more so pleased with the attitude of each member of the team.”
Jordan Ward led the way for the Saints with a hat-trick to go along with an assist. Three other NSA players also had a goal.
Even though the Saints have had solid showings in their first two games, they know that there is still more work to keep up the strong opening to the season.
“Two wins out of two is a dream start,” Whelan said. “Every single player and coach on the squad know we still have 13-plus games to look forward to, work for, and be ready for. We will hopefully build on the first two results. No matter the outcome of future games, we will continue to give it our best.”
