Virginia Beach man charged with attempted capital murder

A 48-year old Virginia Beach man faces attempted capital murder and other charges in connection to an alleged aggravated assault that took place earlier this summer, according to a news release.
Timothy Wayne Carr, 48, was arrested July 4 on charges that included abduction and kidnapping, aggravated malicious wounding, strangle another causing wounding or injury, breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny, and assault and battery.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Carr had allegedly physically assaulted an adult woman and kept her from leaving the premises, according to the release. The woman received medical treatment from Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel and was taken to a local hospital for further treatment.
Following further investigation, Carr was arrested Wednesday and charged with attempted capital murder during rape, abduction — extort money or immoral purpose, object sexual penetration by force or helpless, aggravated sexual battery, shoot, cut, stab, etc. in commission of felony, assault and battery of a family member, burglary at night to commit felony, damage telephone line, etc. to prevent summoning law enforcement, unlawful filming or photographing of another, five counts of entering property with intent to damage, trespassing — entering property of another, and possession of burglary tools.
Carr has a 9:30 a.m. Sept. 12 hearing in Suffolk Circuit Court to advise about attorney arrangements and has been in custody at Western Tidewater Regional Jail since his initial arrest.
