The Suffolk Christian Academy volleyball team is looking forward to having a strong year.

After making progress in 2018, the Lady Knights are looking forward to building on that for this season. Coach Scott Cornette returns as the coach for the Lady Knights and with a challenging schedule this season, Cornette is looking forward to the growth of the team.

“I’m excited about this group this season,” Cornette said. “We have played some quality opponents thus far that I feel like will help some of the young girls. We always want to be a competitive group, and we are going to continue to work to be that.”

SCA is looking forward to being competitive in the conference. The Lady Knights lose some solid contributors from last year’s team but do have Jadyn Patton, Madison Gray and Heather Pearson. Patton and Gray are setters, so emphasis has been put on passing so that Gray and Patton can dictate the offense for the Lady Knights.

“We have some athletic ladies on this team,” Cornette said. “We still have some work to do in terms of the way we want to play, but we have some strong young players on this team. We want to make sure we are focusing on fundamentals to put ourselves in the right position.”

The Lady Knights believe they can finish with a winning record this season, and Cornette believes as the season goes on, the Lady Knights will continue to get better. They take on Norfolk Collegiate on the road this Thursday.
