Pughsville Road closure planned

Starting on Saturday, a section of Pughsville Road will be closed from Townpoint Road to Shoulders Hill Road for the installation of approximately 500 feet of sanitary sewer line, according to a city press release.
The closure area will be in place for approximately 6 to 8 weeks, but the affected area will remain accessible for local residents, school buses and emergency vehicles, the press release stated.
This sewer installation is being done together with construction of the Wildwood subdivision development that’s adjacent to Pughsville Road, and will also bring sewer service to two existing homes.
“Suffolk Public Works and Suffolk Public Utilities have been working extensively with the involved contractor to ensure that this interruption is as limited in duration as possible in order to minimize the impacts to those affected,” the press release stated.
There will be some remaining right-of-way enhancements and repaving to be done after the sewer installation is completed, but this work will be done with periodic lane closures, so no full closures are expected, according to the press release.
