The King’s Fork High School boys’ volleyball team took a 3-0 victory over Wilson High School Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs boys’ volleyball team earned its second win in a row after taking on Wilson at home. With a win over rival Lakeland High School on Friday and a win against Wilson to start their week, the Bulldogs feel like they have some momentum headed in the right direction.
“We stepped up our momentum some more from the Lakeland game,” Coach Angie Gatling said. “We want to continue to keep building consistent momentum from day to day.”
Giancarlo Cecchini finished the game with three kills, 10 assists and three aces. Avontae Burke finished with four kills and two blocks. Darius Dunn finished with two kills, a block and three aces. Benedict Bean held down the back row with 16 digs and one kill.
Gatling has liked the progress her players have been making lately. Burke has transitioned to playing the middle after playing outside last season, and Gatling has liked the way he has accepted the challenge to step up for the team. Dunn is in his first year playing with the Bulldogs, and Gatling believes he has progressed well in such a short time because of his determination and hard work to understand. Bean has been strong on the backline for the team, and Kyle Petrasek has stepped up well for the team. Cecchini is the leader of the team, and continuously makes an impact game in and game out. He was an All-District selection for the Bulldogs last year.
“We are going to continue to take it one game at a time and point by point,” Gatling said. “We will continue to work hard and push each other and continue to grow in this sport as a team and a family.”
King’s Fork will take on Great Bridge High School next week.
